Galloway hails Haneyya's government in Gaza

GAZA, (PIC)-- British lawmaker George Galloway has handed over Tuesday financial and medical assistance and vehicles as donation to the PA government of Ismael Haneyya, which he described as the only legitimate PA government in occupied Palestine.

During the hand over ceremony that was held at the Kateeba plaza in Gaza city, Galloway stressed that the siege on Gaza must be immediately and unconditionally lifted to bail the 1.5 million human being in suffering in the Gaza Strip out of the miserable condition they live in.

He told the press and people who attended the ceremony that the aid convoy donated 100 vehicles worth of 800,000 G.B. pounds, in addition to medical and logistical assistance allowed by the Egyptian authorities to pass through the Rafah crossing.

He explained that organizers of the life line convoy had struggled hard to keep the maximum amount of assistance in the vehicles in spite of the strict Egyptian security measures and inspection procedures at the crossing point.

But he highlighted that gap between the Arab regimes and leaders and the people they rule, stressing, "Arab peoples and even officials, security officers, and inspectors were against the unjust siege on their brothers in Gaza".

"I want to break the sanctions imposed on the legitimate and duly elected PA government in Gaza Strip", underlined Galloway.

He also presented 25,000 G.B. pounds and three vehicles to Premier Ismael Haneyya, saying, "This is not charity… this is politics, and I believe that the government of Haneyya is the right party to give donations to."

He also deprecated the European governments for participating in the siege on Gaza, saying, "If you want to put me on trial you wouldn’t find a jury to convict me, but the jury would convict you because you besieged Palestine."

Furthermore, the British parliamentarian thanked the PA government of Gaza and the Palestinian people for the warm reception and the opportunity to "to kiss this sacred land on the anniversary of the birth of the Prophet (PBUH)," explaining that the journey was tiring and the convoy faced natural and man-made obstacles, but in spite of that they succeeded in reaching Gaza.

“You have now become heroes and legends. No one will ever forget you in Palestine. Your children and brothers will value your actions and will be proud of you,” emphasized Galloway as he addressed those who participated in the convoy.

"My son Zein Eddine who is two, can see me now on TV from London and he is saying ‘LONG LIVE PALESTINE' When he is a grown man, he will remember that his father decided to get to Palestine and that one day he will, with his own son, come back to Palestine and its capital Jerusalem.” said Galloway.

For his part, Zahir Birawai, the representative of the Palestinian Forum in Britain expressed hopes that the step would pave the way for an official European recognition of the legitimate PA government in Gaza.

He also called on Palestinian factions to unite their ranks, restore national unity, and to remain steadfast on the Palestinian national constants and legal rights.
