NEW YORK, (PIC)-- The independent investigation committee formed by the UN to investigate Israeli war crimes committed during its attacks on the Gaza Strip castigated Israel for the lack of cooperation and not facilitating its mission. South African judge and former international war crimes prosecutor, Richard Goldstone, who is leading the UN Human Rights Council mission to probe Israel’s war crimes in Gaza, complained at the lack of positive response from the Israeli government regarding cooperation in the investigation. He stated that he would hold public hearings in which witnesses can testify, and that those hearings would be held in Geneva if holding them in the region was obstructed by Israel. Generally, the investigation team should conclude its mission by the end of June, and would submit its report to the UN on the fourth of August. |
